We believe that these ten exchange traded products can give a fairly wide angle, macro view of world market conditions:

  • (VTI) - US Stocks
  • (EFA) - Non-US Developed Market Stocks
  • (EEM) - Emerging Market Stocks
  • (DJP) - Global Commodities
  • (VNQ) - US Equity REITs
  • (AGG) - US Bonds, excluding Municipals
  • (IEF) - US Treasuries (7-10 Yr)
  • (UUP) - US Dollar Index
  • (USO) - Crude Oil
  • (GLD) - Gold Bullion.

If you pay close attention to them, you will probably be pretty well “plugged-in” to the big picture.

Here are some charts and tables as of November 17, 2008 that shed some light on those ten asset categories in terms of price levels.
