Tips on Finding the Most Fab Freeware
Whether you want to ensure your anti-virus product contains the most up-to-date detection and prevention, or you’re looking for an easy way to optimize and manage your Windows XP, or you want to personalize your email according to your mood, buying software out of the box can mean big bucks. Luckily, most products – from data recovery to disk cleaners, from anti-spy ware to memory defragmenters, and from messaging to multimedia – are available online for free. Check out these top free software sites:
1. Beta Marker – Designed for software enthusiasts and software early adopters, Beta Marker enables users to keep track of their favorite software by automatically sending out email alerts whenever there is an update. The site also tracks down great new software in the sea of new releases. Users submit software to the site and if an adequate number rate it highly it gets promoted to the homepage. If no one votes for it, it gets dropped from the site.
2. No Nags – The best part of this site is that you are assured to find truly free software with no strings attached, such as trial periods or "nag" screens that constantly harp on you to buy the program.
3. The Free Site – The site's creators have done a good job of paring down the offerings to time-tested or very popular applications.
In addition to software, the Number One Free Stuff Site will help you find free MP3 music files, email services, clothes, games, and even free money (just for surfing the Web). Only The Best Freeware breaks Windows-friendly freeware down into easy-to-understand categories such as Office, Internet, Graphics, and Games, and the site claims to have done the difficult job of installing and testing each of the programs that it lists.

What's wrong with FileHippo?
Beta Marker is a cool site, Nonags and thefreesite also good resourceful sites.......thank you for sharing....
I've checked out the sites listed and it seems to be harder to find freeware that is actually any good. People don't want to just find freeware they want to know what is actually good and these don't really help you.
For the best freeware Lifehacker always has a list of the top whatever in almost any freeware or download application. There is also the infamous sourceforge.net and Cnet.com. There are few that are great that I can't get off the top of my head, but these are great because they have been reviewed as safe and rated high quality.
Sure those sites will find freeware, but for the best safe freeware sourceforge.net and download.com are your best bets.
There is also giveawayoftheday.com that features a completely safe and free download of the day. Those products are only free for that day.
