Smoke Out Would-be Car Thieves

Car theft continues at epidemic rates. According to a Wired article, quoting the National Insurance Crime Bureau, a car is stolen every 26 seconds in the U.S. Data suggest that car alarms don't work and there are even legislative efforts in some locales to ban them. Does anyone actually move anymore when they hear a car alarm go off? So, are you looking for an innovative and potentially better deterrent?

Flash Fog Security has a new product it is marketing to businesses and individuals: a machine that fills your car's (or your store's) interior with harmless fog in 20 seconds that supposedly lasts 45 minutes, making it impossible to drive the car away. The device also includes a strobe light.

The company promises the fog is non-toxic, leaves no residue, and won't go off improperly if it is installed correctly. Gizmodo says it “could be one for the 'Pimp My Ride crowd." If you've installed it or know someone who has, let us know how it works.
