Avoid Getting Robbed
Traveling for business can leave you vulnerable in unfamiliar locations. Thieves seek out people who look lost and take advantage. The key to safe travel is to stay alert and look confident. Here are some tips.
1) Keep your head up, and don’t make eye contact when you walk. Try to look like you know exactly where you’re going and don’t fumble around looking lost.
2) Watch your bags all the time. Be careful of staged mishaps, designed to distract you while your possessions are stolen.
3) Carry purses close to you with side openings against your body. Keep wallets in front pockets, not back. Wearing a money pouch under your clothing is the safest option.
4) Do as many activities as possible in groups. There’s safety in numbers.
5) Don’t carry valuables with you.; leave them in the hotel. Refrain from wearing excessive amounts of jewelry and flashing cash. You’re more likely to be pick pocketed if the thief can see that you have goods worth stealing.
6) Keep valuables in your carry-on. Checked baggage is sometimes lost, and you also don’t know who looks through your bags between when you check them and then pick them up at your destination.
