Buy Recycled Furniture
Furniture is a major expense when renting or buying an office. However, you can save 30 to 50 percent if you don't buy new. Here's what you need to know about buying recycled furniture before you make a purchase.
There are three types of recycled furniture, remanufactured, refurbished and reused.
Remanufactured refers to furniture that has been restored to its original condition. You can choose colors, fabrics and surfaces like you would with new furniture.
Refurbished furniture has been cleaned, repaired and touched up but is not as good as new.
Reused furniture is old furniture that is being sold "as is" without any repairs. You should also be aware of the quality of the furniture.
Don't buy used furniture made of particle board with a veneer finish. It is basically compressed saw dust with a thin piece of wood or plastic glued to it and is very difficult to repair.
Laminate wood is the next lowest furniture grade. It is thin sheets of wood pressed together. This type of furniture will not increase in value and can be serviced but only with difficulty.
Solid wood furniture is the most expensive but will last forever and can increase in value with age. This type of furniture is also more easily refinished.

Article only touched the surface of the subject and barely that.
Tell me something I don't know
I build my furniture out of a box. It saves half the overall price, plus it ships to my door. I assembled a very nice Italian wood desk for my home office. I think you should always buy a recycled car. With foreclosures up, I'm sure there's lots of liquidated furniture ready for a reduced cost resale.
These articles are so basic and common-sense that they are worthless. I could write these myself with 5 minutes of research.
I agree with Sep 30. A complete waste of time.
