Time for a New Job (Part II)
Once you've decided that it's time for a change in career, you still have the practicality issue. Most of us can't afford to quit our current positions in hopes that the new career works out. However, changing careers doesn't have to be all or nothing. Here are some suggestions for transitioning into a new career.
1) Drop down to part time at your current employment. This will give you some steady income while providing you with time to find a new job or start a business. Once you feel more established in your new position, you can quit the old one entirely.
2) Try to maneuver into a more interesting position within the company for which you're currently working. If you're still not happy, you'll have more skills to offer when looking for a new job.
3) Take a freelance or volunteer job. If you enjoy it, and the new company likes your work, you could turn it into a new career.
