Reveal Your Passwords
Most of my passwords are programmed into my computer. It's been so long since I've actually typed in my email password that I don't even know what it is. Having your passwords stored on your computer is generally convenient, but every so often, you have to check your email on someone else's computer and can't figure out how to get in. How do you find out what those asterisks represent?
It's not so difficult if you have Windows. Snadboy Software has created a program called Revelation 2.0 that retrieves your asterisk hidden passwords. The program is free with the option to make a donation.
The Aqua Deskexperience 1.3 ($14.99) also reveals passwords but includes other features, such as the ability to copy and paste text from places where you ordinarily wouldn't be able to do so, screen capture and one click searches. Unfortunately, the Aqua Deskexperience only works with Windows 2000, XP and 2003.
Paqtool also created a Password Revealer that works with Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP. It's free to try but $19.95 if you want to purchase.

You left out the free AsteriskKey program-
You shouldn't allow programs to 'remember' passwords for themselves. More often than not they simply drop your credentials in plaintext to a file somewhere on your computer where anyone can find it. Use a dedicated password manager like Password Safe (passwordsafe.sourcefor.../) which stores all of your passwords in an encrypted database. You only have to remember one password -- the password to the database. And even if someone steals your laptop your accounts will be safe.

Using Keepass or PasswordSafe is like a gazillion times better than doing what this article suggests
Spyshakers is even better as it allows you to enter your id and password while shaking spyware and from any computer not just your home based one. Free version or minimal cost version are both the same with just more links in the premium version. Both are fully incripted.
