Holiday Gadgets (Part III: iPhone)
On September 3, I suggested waiting to buy the iPhone until technology improved and the price came down. Two days later, Steve Jobs discontinued the 4GB model and reduced the price of the 8GB model by 200 dollars.
Apple generously offered a 100 dollar refund to those who rushed to be the first to own an iPhone and spent the full 599 dollars. Although the bugs have not yet been worked out, at 399 dollars, the iPhone is now a much more reasonable gift (or gift request.)
Its interface is simple, and the touch screen is easy to use. The design is sleek, and the music and video features perform well. In addition to being a phone, the iPhone offers all of the features of an iPod and then some. It has podcasts, videos, music, and playlists, and content management with iTunes is the same. The iPhone even has a built in speaker so your friends can listen with you.
The phone features Wi-Fi compatibility, which automatically detects Internet hot spots, and Bluetooth 2.0, which allows faster transmission and a longer range than the 1.2 edition. The iPhone even comes with the Safari browser, allowing users to view entire Web pages on its generous 3.5 inch display.

I guess if you don't want the 3G iPhone in May/June then this would be nice, but what bugs are you talking about?
It's an excellent phone. The interface is pleasant, and a lot of fun. Buy this phone it is worth every penny. The iPhones edge connection is almost as fast as 3G, go to iphonepov.com, there is a tutorial on achieving 3G speeds through the Edge network. Enjoy your iPhone.
