New Year's Money Saving Resolutions: Cutting back
If you're tracking your spending this year, try making a list of the items you can minimize. Even the essentials can be trimmed back.
A few simple ideas include lowering your thermostat a few degrees in winter and throwing on a sweater instead, or raise it in summer, but pull the shades down to keep out the sun's heat.
See if you can cut back on eating out at restaurants. Pack a lunch instead of heading out to a café for lunch each day. Spending time with your loved ones preparing a meal is significantly cheaper than meals out, not to mention better for your health.
Consider cutting back on buying unnecessary electronics and house accessories. Are iPods for everyone in the family really necessary?
