Buying Digital Cameras: Getting the Best Deal

Once you have picked out the camera of your dreams, it’s time to head out to the virtual world of camera shopping to find the best deal. You can start by heading back to the Digital Photography Review (dpreview) as a portal to the many, many websites selling your camera at various prices. The site neatly organizes each camera and the online companies selling it, sparing you the effort of scanning dozens of different sites looking for your camera.

Enter the dpreview’s camera database and sort through the options to find your desired camera. The major camera brands - Olympus, Canon, Panasonic, etc. - will have at least two listings of the different sites carrying the product and its presently listed price.

Alternatively, conducting a Yahoo! Shopping or Amazon search is as good a source as any to sort through the online retailers selling your camera. They are also better for listing prices for the more obscure brands than DP Review.
