  • Jeff Matthews says Doug Kass's 20 surprises for 2009 are a must read: "If anybody came closer than Doug Kass to getting the guts of the 2008 financial crisis - and much of its ramifications - right, ahead of time, we’d like to know."
    The "Kass has the hottest hand in the investment world" party line at The Street.com has been used to pimp for subscriptions--and it is basically a joke. Dougie was uber bullish on Citicorp in the $20's. He announced back in July--for most of the month--that the worst was over, and for the rest of the year the market was heading up. He is just another media hack who changes his mind every ten minutes so he can always claim he's right.

    Albert Edwards predicted an imminent stock market meltdown three weeks before it happened. Now that's a guy who got it right! Oh, and he remains bearish.

    I imagine the typical reader of seekingalpha has some idea of why muni's are spread positive to Treasuries, but it does beg the question of whether spreads can and will continue to widen. For an actual explanation of what is going on in the muni market, and why munis might be a good investment here, google Bill Gross's 2/29 interview on the Fox Business Channel.

    Do you have any idea what is taking place in the commercial real estate market? Have you bothered to look at the historic spread between the Treasury curve and Simon's dividend yield? You need to do a little homework in this sector.
