  • Canadian Oil Sands: Gates and Buffett Visit
    Open pit mining uses up lots of water, but not much NG;

    In-situ SAGD process uses up lots of NG, but very little water.

    Locals certainly don't like deteriorating environments, but energy, jobs, and money are more important for most people.

  • ConocoPhillips: Why the Sell-off?
    I should have used word "correlation"... instead, but I apparently overestimated your market knowledge in this case.

    When S&P goes into the gutter, so will your beloved COP.

  • ConocoPhillips: Why the Sell-off?
    XOM went down 50% in 1974 while oil price tripled.

    XOM went up 200% from 1985 to 1987 while oil price got cut in half.

    COP, XOM both have large refining operations that make money independently of the price of the crude.

    And they follow S&P 500 more than they follow the price of crude.

    The author should study the market more!

  • In Light of Peak Oil, Financial Diversification Is a Bad Idea
    "that is why i have contacted the foundations of bill gates, warren buffet, the google guys, the templeton foundation, all of whom have these great charitable projects which will all FAIL if the realities of oil are not addressed first. they have all ignored me,"

    Maybe they have information that you don't know. After all, these guys can buy any information they want. How about you? If you are at an information disadvantage, can you make better decisions than those smart and successful people?

  • Energy, Inflation and Gold
    The US is very smart in protecting its own natural resources under the disguise of "Environment Protection". The longer the oil in ANWR and Rockies remains untapped, the more valuable it becomes. Once OPEC's fields have all peaked, guess who will have the last laugh?
