Who Will Win the Home Entertainment Battle?

I think Apple TV looks weak in its current release, but I'm betting on the Apple DNA for hugely successful innovation.

I believe the next release will include the same integrated nVidia GPU we find in the MacBook line. (They might even include a DVD, but not BD.)

And then, their own 'Tivo' functionality.

Apple TV 3 (my guess here) would support downloaded content, Walmart content, DVR content, reliability, security, ease of use, and

GAMES as in the Wii genere.

If Apple delivers this, we'll have a whole new ball game. Why?

They'll deliver with brilliant marketing.

Hate to break it to you, but this is Msft trying to take over DRM. Haven't you noticed?

Msft has failed (till now) with its crapware, but just wait until the new standard is announced! What a surprise when this thing appears to be somewhat advantageous to msft! Who'd a thunk?

Msft leading a collusive attack on it's enemies (In this case Apple and Disney.) is Msft doing what it does best.

Apple innovates the future.

Is User Apathy About Smartphones Becoming Apparent?

"...who buy Apple (AAPL) iPhones because, well, they're iPhones..."

If you're suggesting that they buy the fad or the glitz, think harder, my friend. The iPhone actually is the world's 1st and only enjoyable, powerful, reliable, mobile/pocket computer. It will be the platform of choice for mobile apps, soon to number in the thousands.

The iPhone is not a fad, it's an unassailable engineering and marketing marvel.

You're pretty close about the 'smartphone apathy' ; how about 'smartphone disgust'? Of course, the iPhone is often described with words like 'lovely', 'great', 'I want one.', 'can't wait'...

Computer Sciences (CSC) -- This is a company that was going to be bought, but they passed up the chance. Now I don't want to buy it."
Annaly Mortgage (NLY) -- I think this is a business model that needs to borrow money. Definitively do not buy."
