You omitted to mention that Roubini is pretty much fully invested and has been all through his ultra bearish commentaries. Watching what they do is a better idea that hearing what they say.

I suppose Mr Ruggiero has sold all his currencies, stocks, bonds and properties and now pays for his groceries at the supermarket with gold sovereigns? Or maybe he has become a farmer in preparation for the coming catastrophe...

Enough of the Charts-Based Crash Talk

I'm glad you made the point; I don't read this type of article often enough. What is more astonishing is the amount of valuable air time that is given to predictions. Essentially the media is giving every Tom Dick and Harry talking head the chance to be right about some forthcoming event, by allowing them to rattle off prediction after prediction which eventually leads to the "right call". And after bombarding viewers with daily 1987 anniversary crash televised segments, the media expresses surprise that the market should tank on the anniversary date. I would suggest that financial TV, the way it is presented today, has a hand at sustaining volatility in the markets, and they just love the power it gives them.

Wells Fargo, with a bid valued at $11.4B, expects the purchase to be completed by the end of the year, and denies it will have to absorb assets shakier than originally thought. As the financial crisis continues to worsen, the U.S. government is considering two dramatic steps to turn around, or at least slow, the damage: guaranteeing billions of dollars in bank debt and temporarily insuring all U.S. bank deposits. The moves, which would mark the government's most extensive intervention to date, are in discussion stages only. Credit stays frozen. As frozen credit markets refuse to thaw, the cost of default protection on corporate bonds reaches new global records amid investor concerns the credit crisis will trigger corporate failures as companies struggle to finance their businesses. Interbank lending remains limited, and borrowing from the Fed's expanded discount window continued its trend of setting new highs every week, as the total daily average rose to $420.2B vs. $367.8B last week. Computer Sciences (CSC) -- This is a company that was going to be bought, but they passed up the chance. Now I don't want to buy it."
