How Loyal Are Wachovia and Washington Mutual Customers?
If Wachovia would get off its A_ _ and send out the paperwork for its sale to Wells Fargo- customers are maybe going to have more confidence in Wachovia. As it is now- we have heard nothing, and the transition is supposed to be complete by end of 2008. Wachovia is getting the reputation of being slow to act and this is no exception.

      Ten Highest Yielding Pharma Stocks
197175 has said it all- The good ones get stolen and the bad ones go to court. Why don't we extend patent rights to the inventor of each product and protect them for 25 years; that way they do not have to charge as much for each dose to recover costs and they will be assured of a long term profit. Again our government wandering around in the dark!

Is Wachovia Really Interested in Morgan Stanley?
Why in the world would Wachovia wish to add another layer of complex debt to their already fragile structure. They have enough problems with their ill founded purchase of Great Western Financial. Wachovia will come out of it under Steel's guidance, but the Morgan Stanley deal just makes the deep barn dew just a little deeper.

Will McCain's Vice Presidential Selection Help the Markets?
js_mcknz has it right on the nose. How about the trillion debt the current idiots have added on our country. Some people have a short memory- Clinton left office with a surplus- and Rothbort is suggesting that McCain would "Help" the market? How myopic can we as a nation be?

Odds Are, a Recession Is Coming
Time for you and Greenspan to take off the blinders. We are in fact in a recession and darn close to depression. You people who stand on formal definition to determine what is going on have not been able to see what is happening around you. Open your eyes.

      Financials: Down, Down, Down
What gifted insight- Clowns like you[ Kedrosky] are partly responsible for the downward spiral of our banks. Just where do you think our banks will go- Our ENTIRE economic system revolves on banks. We will come out of it when the present administration is replaced- in the mean time- some banks like Wachovia are bottom floor buys. As soon as the talking heads realize this-they will start to rise- it may take a year or so but it will happen.

Why I'm Still Holding Onto Gold
Has anyone heard the rumor that the Feds have been regularly raiding our own gold supply in order to keep the rest of the world from asking us to pay up on our debt? Some suggest our gold reserve in Fort Knox has been removed down to 25/30%. I mean after all the Bush Administration has to use something to convince the rest of the world we ain't broke. Our paper money has very little value and the fools in Washington have to do something- right?

Will the Dollar Recovery Launch a Bank Rally?
The bank situation will not right itself until we have a whole new group of folks at the helm of the Fed. The current bunch "just" realized that the rate of inflation is greater than the current interest rate available to banks. This is something most of us realized MONTHS ago. When we have competient people back in the Fed, we will be able to attack the problems. Right now most of us are trying to reach shore before the boat sinks, but after 50 years in this game i do know most everything that goes down will eventually rise. Maybe a good time to buy some distressed banks?

Muni Bonds Will Outperform - Barron's Interview
Muni bonds scare me totally. The basis of their return is local taxation and with the problem in housing, I can not see Muni's as being very secure. Please tell me otherwise so i can jump back into Muni bonds.

How To Buy a Bank (and Other Beaten-Down Stocks)
The one thing Mr. Davis seems to ignore is the quality of management. WM has done a terrible job with major over expansion led by people seemingly intent on making them the largest bank in the world. I would be interested in why Wachovia was not on his list. Talk about dumb moves ( which admittedly might turn out as a positive) if California does not go bankrupt in the mean time. Again however the desire to be a bank which covers East to West seems to be the prize which managers can not resist.
